Highweek Experimental Traffic Order – comments please

by jackiebrodie on 30 November, 2017

The 3 elements of the Highweek Experimental Traffic Regulation Order are up and running. A reminder if you weren’t aware that the ETRO has been a campaign objective of Highweek Residents Association, and the 2 Bradley District Cllrs, supported by myself since becoming County Councillor, on the basis of that campaign and majority (but not unanimous) public support received by myself . Its principle objective is to cut down on the volume of traffic using Highweek as a through route, to other destinations.

There are a couple of minor points which are currently being addressed:
– Junction warning sign on A382 southbound on approach to Whitehill Road
– New HGV ban signs on Ringslade Road need moving onto different poles
– A shield is to be installed on one of the illuminated signs on Pitt Hill Road.

Now the ETRO is in operation, DCC would welcome your comments. Please submit your comments by filling in the DCC consultation form online at https://services.devon.gov.uk/web/traffic-orders/. In the status drop down select “Advertised” and then under Parish/Ward select Newton Abbot. Clicking on the reference number 5623 will take you to the consultation feedback form. This way DCC can capture everyone’s thoughts in one place.

Please also let me have your comments

I am aware of problems re larger vehicles not being able to turn in Whitehill Rd, traffic issues in Coombeshead Rd and a large number of drivers ignoring the one way section in Pitt Hill Rd. DCC and the Police are aware of these issues and we await their response.

Whilst it is an 18 month Experimental Order, it can be abandoned at any point if it is felt not to be achieving its objectives or has unacceptable side effects.
