Update on Council Services

by Jackie Hook on 30 March, 2020

Waste Collections and Emptying of Litter Bins

We will be working hard to keep all services on schedule.  However, there may be disruption in the coming weeks due to reduced staff levels.  Daily updates can be found on this link. https://www.teignbridge.gov.uk/recycling-and-waste/bin-collections/waste-recycling-services-and-public-toilets-covid-19/household-waste-and-recycling-services-27-march/

Please wash your hands before putting your bins out

In order to keep our operatives safe during Covid-19, it would be appreciated if all householders wash their hands as per NHS guidance and/or wear gloves when putting out their bins and boxes for collection. This will help minimise any chance of Coronavirus cross contamination.

Recycling centres are now closed until further notice following government guidelines during the Coronavirus outbreak (Covid-19). Please keep your bulky recycling items at home, if possible.

It is likely that we will have to reduce the frequency of litter and dog bins emptying, as we reallocate staff to priority services such as household waste collections.

Residents are asked, where possible, to take litter and dog waste home with them and to use their current household waste and recycling bins. Please do not call to report a full bin as this will create added pressure on the service. You can continue to use our webform to report a full litter or dog bin.

Our Local Parks

If you are able to walk to one of our local parks then please use them to exercise, however, our play areas are closed, and you should not be driving to any of our local parks to exercise or walk dogs.

Local Plan Consultation

In line with Government advice to forge ahead with programmes to support the economy and the environment, we launched the planned public consultation into the new Local Plan on 23 March 2020. The survey will run until 15 June 2020 – the feedback period extended from 6 to 12 weeks.

You can view all the documents plus short videos on this link https://www.teignbridge.gov.uk/planning/local-plans-and-policy/local-plan-review-2020-2040/ Please take the time to let us have your comments.
